I have always been keen to expand my practical exposure, and am grateful for opportunities to garner on-ground exposure, especially in the fields of finance, business operations, and economics.
In June 2025, I joined as an intern at AIA Engineering under the guidance of Mr. Vivek Rathaur, CFO of the company. During my internship, I was responsible for financial analysis within the Indian business context, for which I examined financial statements and explored the quantitative data that informed decision-making across organizations. My responsibilities also including studying manufacturing cost structures and their implications for business planning, as well as understanding financial modeling techniques.
In the following weeks, I also participated in another internship at Hirise Hospitality, where my goal was to observe the day to day operations of a prestigious five-star hotel. I shadowed senior managers from all the different departments, including Food and Beverage, Housekeeping, Finance, Front Office, and IT, and attended all department meetings, gaining an understanding of different interdependencies that function together to provide impeccable service.
In June 2026, I returned to Hirise Hospitality Pvt. Ltd. for a second, more intensive internship—this time with a dedicated research focus. I was tasked with exploring a forward-looking question: could container-based hotel infrastructure support the 2030 Commonwealth Games, which India will host in Ahmedabad?
My research began with a thorough examination of Ahmedabad's existing urban infrastructure and the official hospitality guidelines issued by the Commonwealth Games federation. I identified the critical need for temporary, scalable, and sustainable accommodation solutions capable of housing thousands of athletes, officials, and visitors during the event window. To ground my analysis in real-world precedent, I studied case studies from other global events (most notably the Silverstone racing circuit in the UK) where modular hotels were successfully deployed, drawing lessons on best practices in rapid deployment and modular hospitality.
Building on Hirise Hospitality's proven operational model, including their 95-room Beetle Smartotels at Mundra SEZ, I outlined how container hotels could offer an environmentally responsible, low-construction-impact alternative to permanent brick-and-mortar structures. I compared cost structures, evaluated environmental footprints, and developed policy-oriented recommendations for integrating modular hospitality into large-scale event infrastructure planning.
By the end of my internship, I was able to compile a comprehensive research report synthesizing my findings, complete with cost-benefit analyses, environmental benchmarks, and actionable policy recommendations, which I submitted to my mentor for review. This experience sharpened my ability to bridge economic reasoning with on-ground operational realities, and deepened my appreciation for how innovative business models can address pressing infrastructural challenges.
